opportunity to network with officials on both national and state levels regarding Maternal Child Health issues. In this capacity I was chosen as the sole representative for U.S. Region 4.

August 1998 to present: Staff CNM, Nurse Midwifery Service, Martin Memorial Health Systems, Stuart, FL. One of five CNMs staffing three Martin County health
department clinics weekly, serving a diverse patient population, including a large population of Guatemalan Mayan indians and Mexican migrant farm workers. OB census for the CNM service, 400 to 500 deliveries per year,
appoximately one third of the total OB volume for the hospital.

April 1997 to August 1998: First nurse midwife to practice full scope nurse midwifery in western Palm Beach county
on Lake Okeechobee. In association with Robert L. Hatton, M.D., at Everglades Regional Medical Center, including management of high risk obstetrics, obstetric sonography and first assistant for C-sections. This is in a rural, agricultural community founded in 1927, Everglades Regional Medical Center being the oldest hospital in Palm Beach county. Annual OB census is approximately 600 births.
January 1994 to 1997: Associate in joint CNM/MD private practice, Doctors and Midwives Group. Full scope CNM practice, including co-management of high risk obstetrics, with offices in
Key West, Marathon and Islamorada. Hospital privileges for obstetrics at Lower Florida Keys Health Systems and birth center practice at Babies by the Sea; A Birth
Center. Annual OB census for the practice is approximately 300 births.

This is the only obstetrics facility in the Florida Keys with an obstetrical census of approximately 800 births per year.

Completed requirements to become a Licensed Midwife in Texas through the Houston Association for Midwife Education, in conjunction with the Public Health Department.
January 1976 to April 1977:
Studied and worked under the supervision of Dr. Harold Graves, MD, at a medical mission on the Mexico-Guatemala border. Classroom and clinical experience in prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
December 1975 to December 1976: Served and studied as a lay medical worker and emergency relief worker during the Guatemalan earthquake, January 1976.
